Morning

Start off your Guilderland day trip at Stuyvesant Plaza, a go-to shopping destination with a mix of boutique style stores and popular retailers. With a "Main Street" vibe, it's a great spot to squeeze in some shopping. If you need some morning fuel to jumpstart your day trip, grab a small breakfast from Bountiful Bread

Embark on a 15-minute drive from the suburbs to the countryside! Nestled at the base of the Helderberg Escarpment, the 100-year old Indian Ladder Farms is a scenic destination. Pick up freshly-baked apple cider doughnuts, fresh grown produce, local honey and more from the Farm Market, reopening for the season on April 11. Say hello to the farm animals such as Simon the Donkey, Maeve the Cow and Tom Turkey! Plus during the spring, take advantage of Baby Animal Days to pet and learn about baby farm animals including ducklings, chicks, bunnies, piglets and more!

 Altamont Museum in the Streets

Afternoon

Before leaving the century-old farm, head to the Indian Ladder Farms Cidery & Brewery for lunch. Soup and paninis, prepared with fresh ingredients grown on the farm, are available for lunch during the week. Enjoy it with a pint of beer or cider, or pick up a 4-pack of cans to bring home with you. On the weekends, the full farm fresh menu is available for lunch.

The historic village of Altamont is a 7-minute drive away from Indian Ladder Farms. Embark on a self-guided walking tour with the village's "Museum In The Streets". Begin your exploration at Orsini Park to view a map of the featured locations. Look for signs in front of historic buildings showcasing old photographs and the village's fascinating history. Spots include the Altamont Free Library (housed in a historic Victorian-era train station!), Wayside Inn, Home Front Cafe, Knowersville House and more.

After strolling the charming streets of Altamont, it is time for an outdoor adventure! Two of the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy's preserves are located in Altamont. Head to the Bozen Kill Preserve for 3-miles of trails along a stream and through the woods. This preserve is home to a picturesque small waterfall and scenic views. Looking to escape to the woods? The Winn Preserve is heavily wooded with 3-miles of trails that wind along the Helderberg Escarpment.
