Paddle the Hudson River 

Get right out onto Albany's rich waterfront and explore the Hudson River by kayak.

Take a trip to Corning Preserve, an urban oasis accessible from downtown Albany. Access the river from the Corning Preserve Boat Launch. This kayaking adventure boasts fantastic views of Albany's skyline making it a great stop while in the capital city. 

Another great spot for kayaking the Hudson River is Coeymans Landing Park. Located along the river in the hamlet of Coeymans, the park offers a boat launch with easy access to explore the historic waterway. 

Or find your way to the river from Henry Hudson Park in Bethlehem. At the south end of the park is a boat launch designed for kayaks and similar boats. This launch provides access to the Vloman Kill, a tributary that flows into the Hudson River.

Thompson's Lake State Park

Tucked within the beautiful grounds of John Boyd Thacher Park, Thompson's Lake State Park is a picturesque kayaking location. Situated just four miles from the Helderberg Escarpment, this paddling adventure offers enchanting mountain views. Rent a kayak from the boat launch during beach hours and consider extending your stay by reserving a campsite within the park grounds.

Found within the extraordinary ecosystem of the Albany Pine Bush Preserve, Six Mile Waterworks Park is a lovely location for a kayaking adventure. Kayaks and similar boats can be launched off the shore to explore Rensselaer Lake. The park is also a favorite spot for fishing, picnicking, and strolling the Pine Bush trails. 

Lawson Lake 

Located in New Scotland, Lawson Lake County Park is a beautiful spot for your next kayaking adventure. There are two points of access to get onto the lake. The park is also a wonderful summer spot for picnicking, fishing, hiking, and birdwatching.
